study in pink, oil on canvas, 16x20

This is an oil painting I did that I forgot to post.  My friend who was at my show
reminded me that she had not seen this appear on facebook.

heartbreak, oil on paper

This was from yesterday.
My Kroger roses helped me get through a rough patch.
Hope you enjoy.
...and I don't want to confuse you by posting my foods that
I am trying to eat to stay healthy.  But isn't it good that
I have a life outside of art?  I knew you would understand.

Snack time food journal

...to tale the sweet tooth down....a fresh Orange...

I have begun to eat healthier.  I am still mad at myself for eating way too much the day before I
began this.  I feel guilty for even thinking that gorging on food would make me feel better.
I want to change the way I think about food.  I don't want to use it as something that I can turn to when I am feeling down, or blue, or excited.  I can feel those things, but I don't want to see food as something that will take away sadness, or make a good thing better.

a solo painting show...

Since I have a little time right now I am going to tell you about my solo show coming up.
It is going to be at the Jefferson Community College Library on 2nd Street (at Broadway).
It is to the right of the new Health Science Building.  I think it may be called the Learning
Resource building.  I am very excited about this, as this is my first solo show ever.  I will
have paintings from the last year or so.  There will be light snacks at the opening at 4pm on
Wednesday January 22nd.  It will be hanging for 2 months.  I will let you know the date it
runs through once I find out.

This painting will be in the painting show, so it's not for sale at the moment.
I really love painting on this paper.

sunny place

Copper was my cat who passed last year.  I always told everyone he was a 'kodak moment'
a minute.  Here he is scratching his back on the concrete in the sun, one of his favorite
things to do.

I painted this on Arches oil paper.  It is paper made for painting with oils.  I got the itch to paint
this way from Duane Keiser's blog.  I love the feel of the paper because there is a little friction
to slow my brush down.  I feel like I'm drawing with paint so to speak.  Give it a try if you
want to.  They sell the paper at Hobby Lobby or other art stores.

bed cloud

all it takes is for one of my cats to be near me and I want to sketch or paint them.
I happened to have my acrylic paints next to me when I spied her sleeping.
Since this is on a quality sketchbook paper, it starts our at 15 on the auction.

new year bird

139   1Jan14

Happy New Year.
I love creating art!
One of the goals I have is simply to paint more often.
To begin the year, I am participating in the 30 in 30 paintathon headed up by Leslie Saeta (lesliesaeta.blogspot.com) where I paint
everyday in January and post to my blog.
This is my second year participating.
I am joining many artists and it will be fun!
