Overwhelmed. Day 1

Day 1 September 30 in 30 Challenge
Hi it's me Trish.  I haven't been painting lately so I decided this challenge would be great for me to participate in.  I have a feeling it will consist mostly of flowers, trees, the outdoors.

For more information about the 30 in 30 challenge visit Leslie Saeta's blog at
http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.com/.  She organizes and participated in this challenge
each January and September.

Decisions decisions...

I have been thinking about a million quilting projects lately. I think my next project is going to be a queen size quilt for the bedroom. Maybe something simple like half square triangles. When I have many projects floating around in my brain, sometimes the best thing is to do something simple.

They are lots of fun, but more work than meets the eye.

20 Pinwheels

I did this pinwheel quilt after looking at Little Island Quilting blog.
I am in love with her quilts.
It is a classic quilt block that I felt I "needed" to do.
Some changes I made were that I "tied" the quilt instead of quilting it.
The top of the quilt is hand cut, machine sewn, and the ties were all by hand.
I used a double threaded needle for the ties of Perla cotton size 8 thread.
I wrapped the quilt backing around to the front to bind it.
This is photographed in front of my husband's garden.

Update and Whirling Star Block

So I have begun to learn to quilt.  I love it.
I still plan to paint every now and again but
I admit I am enjoying a break from it... for me.
I still look at all my artists friends' paintings.  I still
love paintings.  I am just trying this out.
Ok, now on to today's post:

Got the material cut out, ready to piece.
I tried paper piecing and it was challenging but fun.

Before.

After.

From that material I got this!  It is the Whirling Star Block from Fresh Lemons.
It was so worth it.
Now what to do with it... hmmm

First Quilt - Monday Update

This is my first real quilt.  I hand cut all the pieces, then sewed (with machine) the
pieces together.  Once the top was complete, I pinned batting and the quilt back and took
it to a place here in town and I free motion quilted it with a machine.  It was an APQS George
machine at Quilted Joy here in Louisville.

Here it is laying on the couch.
